Music

Music is taught throughout the school mainly by a specialist teacher and follows the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Children are taught singing and how to create instrumental music in groups. The range of classical and modern music available in school on tapes and compact disc is used to enhance the appreciation of music.

All children are given the opportunity to perform in school choirs and participate in a number of choir festivals and celebrations.

Musical appreciation is seen as an integral part of the school's curriculum. The children enjoy opportunities to express themselves in assemblies and liturgical celebrations. The children are encouraged to find God in the depths of feeling music creates in us.
In KS2 Year 3 pupils receive drum workshops. Year 4 pupils learn to play the recorder. Year 5 pupils receive violin lessons.

The children's musical achievements are celebrated in a variety of school productions.
