We believe in promoting confidence in Maths, ensuring all pupils’ learning is extended within his/her capabilities.
We aim:
  • To encourage the effective use of mathematics as a tool in a wide range of activities within school or adult life.
  • To provide opportunities to work independently or co-operatively as appropriate.
  • To develop mental agility through understanding of mathematical thoughts and skills and estimation abilities across the curriculum.
  • To promote a challenge and a sense of achievement for all pupils of all abilities.
  • To impart the relevance of Maths by relating it to real life contexts.
  • To encourage discussion and language development in Maths.
Maths is taught through practical work, problem solving, investigations, and use of computers, calculators, technology, consolidation, games and cross-curricular links. Parents are encouraged to play games and use practical Maths at home e.g. counting the cost of shopping.
